In person in Decorah or via telehealth throughout Iowa.
I do not offer couples or family counseling nor full psychological evaluations.

I do not regularly work with individuals under the age of 18. If space is available and it’s an otherwise good fit, I will work with teens 14+ on occasion, on a case by case basis.

I am an in network provider for most Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, UMR, Optum, and Medica plans.
I am willing to work with individuals wanting to utilize their out of network benefits and can provide a “superbill” that clients can submit to their insurance for possible reimbursement.
I also accept private pay and offer a limited number of reduced fee spaces.

I am not a “worksheet” type of therapist. Let’s face it, I primarily work with folks with ADHD, so remembering to complete and bring back a worksheet can be a challenge.
However, most clients will have some type of a goal they may be working on between sessions, but it might be something like:
trying out a skill discussed
noticing your reactions or emotions
reflecting on patterns in your behavior
following through on a conversation you need to have
looking over a resource I’ve shared with you
completing a task you’ve put off
implementing a new strategy
You’ll never be expected to work on something you haven’t consented to, as all goals we set are collaborative.

I’ll be honest that I’m not able to take on new clients as frequently as I’d like. I tend to work with folks who are looking for longer term support and stick with me. I also have another business outside of providing therapy, so even though I work full time, my time is split between different roles.
I try to post updates on my contact page about current availability, but that can change frequently as well, so if you are strongly interested in working together, I encourage you to reach out. And, if you’ve reached out and I was full and are still looking for the right fit a while later, feel free to reach out again to check.
-
I do not keep a formal waitlist as it’s simply too challenging for me to predict exactly when space will become available. I don’t like to leave someone waiting for months to be seen without support. My recommendation if you’d really like to work with me is to submit an inquiry. If I don’t have space at the time, I encourage you to look for other providers, but you’re always welcome to check back in a month or two later to see if things have changed.

ADHD coaching has a more limited scope than mental health therapy/counseling. Most ADHD coaching focuses specifically on supporting executive functioning skills, things like time management, task completing, organization, memory, prioritization, etc. It’s usually focused on helping to identify barriers to getting tasks done and finding systems and strategies to improve task completion. ADHD Coaching does not include assessment, diagnosis, treatment of co-occurring concerns, trauma processing, or diving deep into past emotions or events.
Mental health therapy is more all inclusive. It can include assessment, identification and diagnosis of mental health “disorders”, processing of trauma, emotions and can also include support of executive functioning. However, many mental health therapists do not have enough training in executive functioning and ADHD to be able to provide the kind of support that is needed.
Bobbi-Jo does have training and experience in supporting ADHD and can do so within the context of mental health therapy.
For individuals only interested in ADHD coaching, Bobbi-Jo does provide standalone ADHD coaching services through a separate business, Embrace the Muchness. Please reachout through the contact form on that webiste if interested in ADHD coaching services. If you are unsure which service is right for you, please reach out through Embrace the Muchness first, then Bobbi-Jo can consult to help you decide.
If interested in mental health therapy services with Bobbi-Jo you can use this site’s contact form to reach out.
